VIOLATED ANGELS (1967, Japan) Fan Sub 3.5/5
One of Controversial Director Koji Wakamatsu's more well-known films, Violated Angels was influenced by the 1966 Richard Speck Nurse killings (and if it wasn't, that's a pretty weird coincidence). The movie is in black and white except for two scenes in bold color to emphasize their horror. It's unsettling in its presentation, from the quick cut pictures of lips and hips and boobs intermixed with cold pictures of the killer at the beginning; to the way he shows the crime scene itself. Matter of fact - cold - the horrified reaction of the girls restrained by the potential for more carnage. It's like being there and peeking around a corner. It gets a bit nerve-racking after a while.
There's a lot of nudity - all of the girls are naked at one time or the other - but it isn't really sexy at all. In fact, as much as I liked the idea of a movie where Junko Natsu bares all, I'm not really in a hurry to see this again.
That's not to say it isn't good - it IS - but even at only 56 minutes, that's enough of this type of intensity to last me a while.
